Daily Itinerary Day 1 - Arrive Christchurch: Welcome to Christchurch, New Zealand largest city on the South Island.  Tour the cathedral, visit the Art Gallery or Canterbury Museum, view the Botanic Gardens or see many of the world's endangered animals at the Orana Wildlife Park.  Spend your evening dining at one of Christchurch's premier restaurants. Day 2 - Christchurch to Aoraki/Mt. Cook to Queenstown: Cross the Canterbury Plains to view stunning Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park, arriving in Queenstown, this evening. Day 3 - Milford Sound Day Cruise: Travel to Milford Sound to take the Red Boat Cruise, offering fantastic views of the coastline.  Return to enjoy your evening in Queenstown. Day 4 - Queenstown: Enjoy Queenstown at leisure.  Take a boat out on the lake, go hiking, rent a bike, visit nearby vineyards, or just take it easy.  Day 5 - Queenstown to Franz Josef: View the West Coast of New Zealand as you travel through the Haast Pass to Franz Josef, at the western foot of Mt Cook. Day 6 - Franz Josef Village: Enjoy Franz Josef Glacier at leisure.  Walk the glacier valley or take a helicopter up for truly amazing views.  If you're really adventurous, look into spending the day whitewater rafting at nearby Wataroa or Perth River. Day 7 - Franz Josef to Christchurch, via TranzAlpine Train: Journey to Greymouth where you will catch the TranzAlpine scenic train,* traveling across the Southern Alps and Canterbury Plains, concluding your tour in Christchurch. Alternate Itinerary Day 1 - 4: Same as above. Day 5 - Queenstown to Wanaka: Take a side-trip to Lake Wanaka, through the Kawarau Gorge.  In Wanaka, visit the Warbird Museum, get lost in a 2-story maze at Puzzling World, or just soak in the gorgeous views. Day 6 - Wanaka to Franz Josef: Today, travel to Franz Josef through the Haast Pass.  Enjoy views of Lake Hawea and New Zealand's west coast.
